Nation moment of silence

Published 10 November 2025 year, 09:00

“I’m fighting like a lion. Everything will be Ukraine,” — these were Igor “Ace” Levchuk’s last words to his mother.

Petty Officer 1st Class Igor Levchuk was killed on April 15, 2022, in Mariupol during the city’s defense. He was 33 years old.

Igor was born in Boikivske. He graduated from the Faculty of Criminal Police at the Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and worked as an operative officer. After the occupation in 2014, he moved his family to Mariupol and continued his service.

In 2021, he joined the 23rd Maritime Guard Detachment, and from the first days of the full-scale invasion, he became part of the “Leleka” cover group of the Azov Special Purpose Regiment.

On the night of April 15, as the unit was moving toward Azovstal, their convoy came under mortar and artillery fire. The armored personnel carrier where Igor was located took a direct hit.

His cremation took place on July 8 in Kyiv. Igor was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd class.

He is survived by his three daughters, mother, and sister.

At 9:00 a.m., the nation observes a moment of silence.

The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform honor the fallen defenders from Donetsk region.
