Published 11 July 2025 year, 09:00

Senior sapper Oleg Boitsov died in an explosion on April 9, 2019, while clearing mines near the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas water pipeline pumping station (the “gray zone”) near Zaitseve in Donetsk Oblast. The officer was 39 years old.

Oleg was born in Sloviansk. He served as a firefighter in the 37th State Fire and Rescue Unit. He saved dozens of people and fought hundreds of houses from the flames.

Later, Oleg Boitsov decided to become a pyrotechnician. Every day, he risked his life removing and destroying explosive devices. Performing extremely difficult and dangerous demining tasks in the Joint Forces Operation zone became part of his life. Oleg was a senior civil defense officer and senior sapper of the special-purpose emergency rescue unit of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast.

He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, III degree.

Oleg Boitsov was buried in Slovyansk at the cemetery on Danyla Halytsky Street.

At 9:00 a.m., there will be a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform will commemorate the fallen defenders from Donetsk Oblast.
