69-year-old Liubov Zakharova was killed on January 15, 2024, in her own apartment in the settlement of New York.
That day, Russian forces shelled the settlement with four guided aerial bombs. The strike caused the entrance of the apartment building to collapse, and the woman was trapped under the rubble.
Liubov Zakharova was born in the settlement of Nelipivka, Bakhmut district, and lived in New York. She trained as a painter-plasterer and worked in retail for many years. Later, she worked as a cleaner and security guard at local School No. 17. For the last two years of her life, she was retired.
She loved working in her garden, growing flowers, and kept a beautiful flowerbed near her home. She also loved baking and always invited her relatives over for homemade pies.
During the full-scale war, Liubov Zakharova remained in the settlement. She did not want to leave because she could not abandon her home. She dreamed of victory and believed that the war would end soon.
Liubov Zakharova is survived by her two daughters, sons-in-law, three grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and other relatives.
At 9:00 a.m., a nationwide minute of silence is observed. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial platform honor the residents of Donetsk region killed by Russian forces.
