Senior Lieutenant Viktor Sushkov was killed on March 20, 2022, while defending Okhtyrka. He was 30 years old.
Viktor was born in Yenakiieve. He earned a master’s degree from the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University. He was passionate about sports and became a prize-winner of national competitions in crossfit and functional all-around.
After 2014, he chose a military career and took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). He served as a platoon commander in the 1039th Separate Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment and had the call sign “Sukhar.”
On March 20, during the fighting, he attempted to shoot down an enemy aircraft. A few hours later, Russian aviation returned, but due to a lack of communication, he did not receive permission to launch a missile in time. He was killed together with his fellow soldiers.
The defender was buried in Poltava Oblast. He is survived by his wife. In Donetsk region, one of the streets has been renamed in his honor.
