Published 12 October 2026 year, 09:00

Rostislav Kuzmich, a 26-year-old soldier, was killed in action on December 13, 2022, near the village of Shipylivka in the Luhansk region. He was killed by a landmine while leading his comrades in an assault.

Rostislav was born on August 21, 1996, in the city of Sloviansk. He graduated from the local School No. 8. He then enrolled at the Sloviansk Vocational College of the National Aviation University. However, he did not complete his studies—he joined the ranks of the defenders to protect his homeland. In 2017–2018, he fought in the Luhansk region.

After his demobilization, Rostislav went into business. He worked at the local market. He was kind and cheerful and had many friends. In his free time, he loved to cook.

When the full-scale invasion began in April 2022, he enlisted in the National Guard of Ukraine. He served as a grenadier in the “Donbas” Special Forces Battalion.

Rostyslav Kuzmych was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” Third Class.

The defender was buried in Sloviansk.

At 9:00 a.m.—a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the “Memorial to Heroes” platform are honoring the fallen defenders from the Donetsk region.
