Soldier Serhii Yermolenko was killed on March 15, 2022, in the village of Zahaltsi, Kyiv region, during battles with the Russian aggressor. The defender was 39 years old.
Serhii was born on June 22, 1982, in the city of Amvrosiivka, Donetsk district. He was a private entrepreneur engaged in furniture manufacturing.
On February 24, 2022, he voluntarily joined the defense of his country. He served in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade “Edelweiss.”
“He was bright and kind, wise and genuine. My mentor, protector, and friend — the pillar that held my life together. With him, I was never afraid — he would always come to help, no matter what. He believed in people, sought honesty and decency, and brought kindness even where it was lacking. A true patriot, he volunteered on the very first day of the war because he couldn’t do otherwise. The world has lost an incredible person, and I have lost my brother — he will remain forever in my heart, in every moment, in every breath,”— said his sister Olha.
“Serhii Yermolenko was an honest and decent man, a true friend — cheerful, sincere, and always ready to help,”— added Oleksandr, his brother-in-law.
“Before volunteering, he asked that if he was killed, his body be cremated. We honored his wish,”— said Olha.
Posthumously, Serhii was awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, mother, and sister.
