Published 15 December 2025 year, 09:00

The life of 69-year-old Mykola Monastyrov was taken by a Russian shelling of the city of Kostiantynivka on September 7, 2024. The man sustained shrapnel wounds that proved fatal.

Mykola was born in the village of Tarasivka, Velyka Pysarivka District, Sumy Region. He graduated from Pozhnianske Secondary School and completed his compulsory military service. After getting married in 1976, he moved to Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Region.

He worked at the Avtosklo glass plant and later at a branch of Skloremont LLC. By profession, he was a bricklayer and tiler. He also worked in the construction of industrial furnaces. In difficult times, his relatives say, he traveled almost halfway around the world in search of work — working in Iraq, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. He was respected by colleagues and friends.

In recent years, Mykola Monastyrov had been retired.

“He was an honest, hardworking, sociable, caring, kind, and positive person. A loving husband, father, and grandfather,” his daughter Iryna said.

Mykola Monastyrov is survived by his daughter, son, and grandson.
