Soldier Dmytro Nikitov, nicknamed “Skorpion,” died on May 1, 2024, during a combat mission near the village of Kalynove in Donetsk Oblast. The defender was 26 years old.
Dmytro was born in the city of Myrnohrad. He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk College of Economics and Business of the Oles Honchar National University with a degree in Commercial Activities. While serving in the military, he chose to pursue a career in the armed forces.
In July 2018, he signed a contract and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He carried out combat missions in the Joint Forces Operation zone. During the full-scale war, he continued to defend the country from enemies. He fought in the ranks of the 109th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. He held the position of mortar platoon operator in a mortar battery.
"Dmytro was a true patriot of his country. He always had a positive attitude towards life. He had two biggest dreams: to have a son and to defeat the enemy. According to his comrades, Dmytro was a cheerful, reliable, and courageous friend and soldier. For him, there was never any question about the front line; he was always the first in the ranks. I am proud of my husband, I love him very much and miss him," said his wife.
The defender was buried at the Krasnopil Cemetery in the city of Dnipro.
He is survived by his wife Anastasia and son Sviatoslav.
At 9:00 a.m., there will be a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform will commemorate the fallen defenders from Donetsk Oblast.
