Mykhailo Postelniak was killed during the night of September 7, 2022, in Sloviansk. The Russian army shelled the city once again. One of the strikes hit building No. 43 on Torska Street.
The apartment where Mykhailo was with his wife, Margaryta, was reduced to rubble. The couple died under the debris. Mykhailo was 84 years old.
He was born in the village of Mayaky in the Kramatorsk district. He completed the local seven-year school and later trained as a foundry worker. He worked at the Slovvaghmash plant.
After some time, he decided to change his profession: he graduated from the police school and became a district inspector, eventually rising to deputy head of the criminal investigation department. He worked in law enforcement for 20 years before returning to the plant.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his household plot.
“My father was a calm person — kind and fair,” said his daughter, Liudmyla.
Mykhailo Postelniak was buried at the Northern Cemetery in Sloviansk.
At 9:00 AM — a nationwide moment of silence.
