Nationwide minute of silence

Published 18 February 2026 year, 09:00

Liudmyla Chyzh was killed on January 19, 2026, as a result of a Russian airstrike on Sloviansk.

At around 11:00 a.m., the enemy dropped four guided aerial bombs on the city. One of them struck the yard of the house where she lived. In four days, she would have turned 51.

Liudmyla was born on January 23, 1975, in Sloviansk. She graduated from Secondary School No. 7. She worked at local enterprises, including a ceramic production facility. She was the mother of a son and two daughters.

In recent years, she lived alone. She kept in touch with her children and cared deeply for her beloved granddaughter.

“My mom was kind, sincere, and bright. She loved animals very much. She fed birds, stray dogs, and cats. She rescued the helpless — took them home, treated them… On January 19, when the strike happened, I was talking to her on the phone. Suddenly I heard loud, страшні sounds in the receiver, and the connection was cut off. I immediately understood that something had happened to my mom. I tried to call back, but it was useless,” recalled her eldest daughter, Alona.

Liudmyla Chyzh was laid to rest in Sloviansk.

At 9:00 a.m. — a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial platform: killed by Russia — we remember the residents of Donetsk region killed by Russians.
