Oleksandr Tsapkov, 45, was killed by shelling on August 8 or 9, 2025, in the village of Serednie, Kramatorsk district.
Oleksandr was born in Kramatorsk. Later, he moved to his mother’s hometown, Serednie. He trained as a bricklayer and worked in the village as a general laborer.
At the beginning of the full-scale war, Oleksandr’s common-law wife evacuated with their children — first to Lviv and later to Germany. He stayed behind to look after the household and care for the property. Until the very end, the family remained in contact with him. He told them that the village was constantly under Russian shelling.
Later, word reached the family that Oleksandr had been found dead. It is believed he was killed on his way to work for a local farmer.
“I cannot say for certain what exactly happened to my husband. He was buried in a garden in one of the yards. Later, two other civilians were buried nearby,” said his partner, Tetiana.
The couple had lived together for 23 years.
“My husband was a versatile person. He could do many things, especially construction work. He was sociable, liked meeting with friends. He did not quarrel with people and was generally a kind person,” Tetiana added.
Oleksandr is survived by his partner and their three daughters, a grandson, and other relatives.
