Soldier Maksym Baidachenko was killed on December 14, 2023, near Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region. He had been considered missing in action for over a year. He was 41.
Maksym was born in Sloviansk and studied at School No. 1. He was active, interested in science, and won at the regional stage of the Junior Academy of Sciences competition. He graduated from the Faculty of Biology at Donetsk National University, worked on public environmental projects, and was engaged in business.
In 2014, he returned to Sloviansk with his family. At the beginning of 2023, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and trained as a сапер (combat engineer). He served in the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade and fought on the Zaporizhzhia front.
His fellow soldiers respected him for his fairness and willingness to help. He saved others and supported the families of fallen comrades.
He was posthumously awarded the “Fallen Warrior” order and the Order “For Courage,” 3rd class. He was laid to rest in the village of Maidan in Donetsk region, next to his father.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
