Published 22 July 2026 year, 09:00

Thirty-six-year-old Bohdan Bubnov was killed in a Russian attack on Sloviansk on June 16, 2026. He was working at an auto repair shop, repairing vehicles, when a Russian shell exploded nearby.

Bohdan was born on July 26, 1989, in Sloviansk. He studied at School No. 6 and graduated from the Sloviansk Chemical and Mechanical Technical College, where he earned a qualification as a mechanic.

He began his career as a maintenance mechanic at the Sloviansk High-Voltage Insulator Plant. Later, he worked in the same position at the railway depot of Sloviansk Station, and subsequently served as a guard with a militarized security unit.

However, Bohdan's greatest passion and life's work was automobiles. He had an exceptional ability to diagnose almost any mechanical problem and repair it with ease.

"Bohdan was a person with a capital 'P.' He never ignored someone else's hardship, was always positive, and supported others with both words and actions," his wife, Tetiana, recalled. "He was the heart of every gathering. Most importantly, he was a loving father to our son and a devoted husband."

Bohdan was laid to rest at the Northern Cemetery in Sloviansk.

He is survived by his wife and son.

At 9:00 a.m., Ukraine observes the National Minute of Silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial: Victims Killed by Russia platform honor the memory of the residents of the Donetsk region killed by Russian forces.
