Nationwide moment of silence is observed

Junior Lieutenant Dmytro Polozhentsev was killed on March 31, 2022, during a combat mission at Azovstal in Mariupol. He was 25 years old.

He was born in Yenakiieve. In 2018, he graduated from Pryazovskyi State Technical University and worked at a metallurgical plant. In 2019, he completed military training at a department in Zaporizhzhia and received his officer rank. Dmytro loved sports and regularly trained at the gym.

With the start of the full-scale war, he joined the 109th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, where he served as commander of the 2nd Rifle Platoon. For over a month, he and his comrades defended Mariupol. “He could have become the new generation of Mariupol,” his family says.

Communication with Dmytro was lost on March 31 at Azovstal. Months of searching brought no answers. His body was returned from Mariupol in July 2022 without identification documents; the farewell took place on June 10, 2023.

Dmytro was buried in a cemetery in Yahotyn, Kyiv region. He is survived by his parents and other relatives.

At 9:00 a.m., a nationwide moment of silence is observed. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform honor the fallen defenders from Donetsk region.
