Forty-two-year-old Maksym Lavronenko was killed on May 5, 2026, as a result of a Russian strike on Kramatorsk. That day, Russian forces dropped three high-explosive aerial bombs on the city.
Maksym was born in Kramatorsk. He graduated from School No. 6 and studied Finance and Credit at the Donbas State Engineering Academy. He began working while still in his second year of university. He loved nature, fishing, and sports, and later passed those interests on to his son.
He worked at a currency exchange office and later served as the head of the civilian sector at Kramatorsk Airport. Most recently, he headed the Occupational Safety Department of the Executive Committee of the Kramatorsk City Council, where he was also involved in providing humanitarian assistance to the children of fallen defenders.
His father recalled that Maksym deeply loved Kramatorsk and never wanted to leave his hometown. His colleagues described him as responsible, dependable, kind, and compassionate—a person who was always ready to support others.
Maksym Lavronenko is survived by his wife, son, parents, sister, and nephews.
