The life of 67-year-old Oleksandr Burov was taken by the Russian army in Bakhmut on February 4, 2023.
The enemy launched an artillery strike on the city. That day, Oleksandr had gone to the humanitarian headquarters located in the House of Culture to get bread. On his way home, he came under shelling on Nezalezhnosti Street, 65.
Oleksandr Burov was born on February 1, 1956, in the city of Bakhmut. He received a vocational education as a mechanic and repair fitter and independently mastered the profession of gas welder.
He worked in his field at the “Trubnyi” plant, and after its closure repaired machinery and cultivated land at the private agricultural enterprise “Khvylya.” He also worked as a driver at the “Teploobminnyk” plant. After retirement, he repaired cars.
“The memory of my strong-willed father will remain in my heart forever. Despite the dangers, he always fought for himself and for his family. He helped people even when he was ill. During another shelling of the city on July 30, 2022, a shell hit our home, and the family miraculously survived. The blast blew out windows and doors, destroyed the yard, and killed the small puppies that were crushed by the fallen fence.
In August, my father sent the family into evacuation, while he stayed behind to help extinguish fires after shelling. He collected materials from the headquarters, boarded up shattered windows, and cared for 6 dogs and 8 cats living at his home. He wanted to join the defenders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but was refused because of his age. He always helped the military repair vehicles.
He called only when he could find a signal. The last time we spoke was on February 1, his birthday. We begged him to leave, but he refused. To all my pleas he simply told us to live in harmony. On February 7, we were informed that my father had been killed.
For me, his daughter, my father was an example of a man with golden hands, a bright mind, and a kind heart, who devoted his entire life to his family. You meet people like him only once in a lifetime!” his daughter Nataliia wrote.
Oleksandr was buried in the city of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son.
