Staff Sergeant Ihor Yeremieiev died on January 25, 2023, while performing a combat mission. The defender was 56 years old.
Ihor was born in Bakhmut. In 1985-1986, he served in Afghanistan. He was involved in maintaining public order in the military conflict zone. In 2007-2008, he served as a member of the UN peacekeeping unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kosovo.
Since 2014, he has been defending Ukraine's independence in the ATO and JFO areas. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Ihor was a senior driver of the 18th Slavic Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
In 2019, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, Ihor Yeremieiev was awarded the medal “For Valor and Victory” by the NGO “Zvityaga”. And posthumously, he was awarded the medal “Defender of the Fatherland”.
The soldier was buried at the Northern Cemetery in Sloviansk.
At 9:00, a nationwide minute of silence was held. The Donetsk Regional Military Association and the Heroes Memorial platform commemorate the fallen defenders from Donetsk region.
