Nationwide minute of silence

Published 29 May 2025 year, 09:00

Senior soldier Bohdan Nikulin died on August 31, 2023, near the village of Tykhonivka in the Kramatorsk district. The soldier was 29 years old.

Bogdan was born and raised in Mariupol. He graduated from a local construction college and was in his third year at Berdiansk University of Management and Business. Since 2017, he had been working as a printer at the newspaper Pryazovskyi Robitnyk.

Since 2019, Bohdan had been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine as part of the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. He was a senior gunner in the second self-propelled artillery platoon.

Bohdan got married during the war.

“My son loved life. He was an easy-going person with a good sense of humor. He was also very kind. He loved to sing and imitate different voices,” said his mother, Lilia Nikulina. "He loved animals. He was a loyal friend and companion. He had many friends who loved and respected him. From childhood, he protected everyone who needed it. Without hesitation, he would give his last penny. He cared more about others than himself. Bogdan was an only son. He loved his family and his homeland very much. He joined the army on his own and believed until the very end that he would return to his native Mariupol. We raised a wonderful son with the right understanding of life. He is a hero, and we are very proud of him! I want the memory of Bohdan to live on and for people to know what a wonderful and bright person he was."

The defender was buried in the village of Mykolaivka, Donetsk region, on the Walk of Fame.

Bohdan is survived by his wife, parents, and grandmother.

At 9:00 a.m., there will be a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform will commemorate the fallen defenders from Donetsk Oblast.
