Senior soldier Oleksandr Ushakov was killed on April 9, 2022, during an airstrike in Mariupol. He was 30 years old.
Oleksandr was born in Dobropillia, studied at local schools, and graduated from Sloviansk Professional College and the Kharkiv Aviation Institute. From childhood, he loved sports, especially football, and was known as a responsible person who always supported his family.
In 2013, he began his compulsory military service in Donetsk. After the occupation, he moved to Mariupol, where he continued his service in military unit 3057 as a driver in the logistics company. He took part in combat operations in Donetsk region.
With the start of the full-scale invasion, his unit joined the Azov Regiment. Oleksandr was killed during an airstrike.
The defender was buried on November 15, 2023, at the Lisove Cemetery in Kyiv. He was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd class. He is survived by his parents and relatives.
At 9:00 a.m., a nationwide minute of silence is observed. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial of Heroes platform honor fallen defenders from Donetsk region.
