The “In the Footsteps of the Ostrogski Princes” hiking camp is an incredible 50-kilometer journey through the historic sites of the Rivne region, combining elements of adventure and learning. You’ll be able to test your physical endurance, learn tactical medicine, navigation, tactics, and survival skills in the field.
This year marks the camp’s thirteenth edition. Since 2015, the organizers have held 12 camps, and each one has been a unique experience filled with adventure, personal growth, and team spirit. The camp combines excursion and travel components with training, fostering endurance, civic awareness, and an unbreakable spirit in young people.
The “In the Footsteps of the Ostrogski Princes” camp has two main components that combine historical and practical experience: hiking and travel, and training.
Participants explore the history of the UPA in southern Rivne Oblast through hikes and excursions. In particular, they study two significant events: the First Conference of the Oppressed Peoples of Europe and Asia in 1943 and the UPA’s largest battle at Hurby in 1944.
Attention is also given to the history of the Ostrogski family and their role in Ukrainian history, including notable figures such as the Nalyvaiko brothers, Hetman Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny, Hryhorii Smotrytsky, and others associated with this family.
During the camp, participants will learn:
- Training in tactical medicine for providing first aid in the field.
- Orienteering to navigate effectively and locate key points.
- Survival skills in the field.
This is a chance not only to walk along historic trails but also to gain valuable knowledge, build resilience, and meet young people from all over Ukraine. The camp format combines athletic challenges with practical sessions designed to develop essential skills.
This year, the camp will take place from May 21 to 25 in the Rivne region. Join us! Fill out the form at the link and become part of this inspiring event👉 Camp registration: https://forms.gle/bAcr8h5voek1a2x69
