A sick leave certificate is a document generated by the software tools of the Electronic Register of Sick Leave Certificates based on a medical report on temporary incapacity for work, issued by a doctor in a healthcare institution.
Such a sick leave certificate entitles an insured person to take leave from work due to illness and to receive financial support in cases of temporary incapacity, pregnancy, or childbirth.
The Pension Fund of Ukraine is responsible for maintaining the Electronic Register of Sick Leave Certificates.
As of October 1, 2025, the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Donetsk region has generated 773.9 thousand electronic sick leave certificates since the system’s implementation, including 64.1 thousand since the beginning of 2025.
The data from a generated sick leave certificate is available in the electronic account of the employer (insurer) and in the personal account of the patient on the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s e-services web portal — https://www.pfu.gov.ua/.
