Volunteers evacuated pets from Bilenke that had been left behind in the town due to the fighting.
Among those rescued were 10 adult goats, three kids, a heifer, four dogs, and 14 chickens. Volunteers Phil, Tom, and Petya transported the animals in their own cars; the charity organization “UAnimals” covered only the cost of fuel.
After the evacuation, the animals were able to stay in a safer place.
Evacuating pets from frontline communities remains a crucial part of the volunteers’ work, as many people fleeing their homes due to danger are not always able to transport their livestock and other animals on their own.
