According to the Law of Ukraine “On Mandatory State Social Insurance,” temporary disability benefits (sick leave payments) are provided to insured individuals based on their insurance record and amount to 50%, 60%, 70%, or 100% of their average salary (income).
General condition for maximum benefits
Sick leave is paid at 100% of the average salary if the insured person has more than eight years of insurance coverage.
Categories entitled to 100% sick leave payments regardless of insurance record
Benefits amounting to 100% of the average salary are paid regardless of the length of insurance coverage to, among others:
- war veterans, participants injured during the Revolution of Dignity, and family members of deceased war veterans and Defenders of Ukraine;
- individuals classified under Categories 1–3 of those affected by the Chornobyl disaster;
- one of the parents or a person acting in their place who is caring for a sick child under the age of 14 affected by the Chornobyl disaster.
Employees or gig specialists of a Diia City resident company who are insured persons receive sick leave payments regardless of their insurance record, based on the salary from which insurance contributions were actually paid.
In addition, the following benefits are granted and paid at 100% of the average salary (taxable income) regardless of insurance coverage:
- temporary disability benefits resulting from a workplace accident or occupational disease;
- maternity benefits.
