Free car insurance for veterans: how to apply for compensation

Published 19 January 2026 year, 16:59

The state reimburses 50% of the cost, and the insurance company provides a 50% discount—this is how the support mechanism works, allowing veterans to obtain car insurance at no cost.

You can receive compensation if you:

✅have a valid veteran ID (UBD or OIVV);

✅are of legal age;

✅have a verified RNOKPP;

✅have a valid contract concluded with a veteran's privilege;

✅do not use the car for business or transportation;

✅drive a car with an engine capacity of up to 2500 cm³ or an electric motor of up to 100 kW.

Check the terms and conditions and apply online now.

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to do this:

1. Open the Diya app.

2. Go to the "Veteran PRO" section.

3. Select the "Compensation for car insurance" service.

4. Select or create a Diya Card.

5. Wait for the application to be processed.

All stages are automatic and do not require any additional references or appeals.

Since the program began, 50,000 veterans across the country have applied for state compensation for the cost of compulsory insurance and received reimbursements totaling over UAH 80 million. Compensation for submitted applications continues to be calculated.

Don't worry if your contract has already expired or is about to expire. The deadline for submitting applications has been extended — you can apply for compensation even after the contract has expired. This also applies to policies concluded in January–February 2025.

Applications for such contracts can be submitted within three months after the system is launched. It is currently being finalized, but very soon it will be possible to submit applications, and you will be able to receive compensation without any hassle.

🤝This is real support that works simply and clearly, removing unnecessary hassle for veterans. Yes, the policy costs them virtually nothing, and compensation is provided in the most transparent way possible through digital tools.

The service is implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine in partnership with the MTIBU.
