As part of the national project "Side by Side: United Communities," a meeting was held between specialists from the Central City Library of the Bakhmut City Community and the Kremenchuk City Centralized Library System.

The dialogue was dedicated to Ukrainian Volunteer Day — to the people who, at a decisive moment for the country, did not hesitate to take up arms and, following their hearts, stood up to defend our independence.

The main topic of conversation was the preservation of memory. In the context of evacuation, one of the most important tasks is to collect biographical stories about fellow countrymen who gave their lives for Ukraine.

The people of Bakhmut talked about initiatives that serve as a digital chronicle of courage. Among them:

  • "Bakhmut Guard of Memory" — a virtual space where stories of the community's defenders are collected,
  • a virtual Book of Memory — a memorial publication project of the Bakhmut Local History Museum dedicated to fellow soldiers,
  • the public initiative "Those Who Hold the Sky. Virtual Museum of Bakhmut," which brings together photos, videos, and memories of heroes on Facebook.

The meeting also had a creative component. Together, the participants made amulets for Ukrainian defenders. These symbolic items, filled with gratitude, will soon be sent to the front lines as a reminder that the home front remembers each of its heroes.

The unity of communities is the greatest strength of Ukrainians and the foundation of our country's free future.
