Lydia Grigorievna did not leave her home despite the constant enemy shelling. To uproot herself and leave her home at the age of ninety was a difficult decision that she kept putting off.

During particularly heavy shelling, the elderly woman took shelter in the basement. It was there that she was found by soldiers of the 4th Battalion of the 15th Brigade “Kara-Dag” of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov.”

A Russian bomb struck Lydia Grigorivna’s house, and the basement where the woman was staying was buried in debris.

Ukrainian defenders heard her cries for help, dug her out, provided first aid, and evacuated her to a safe place in an armored vehicle.

Lydia Grigorivna is currently under medical supervision.
