Many Ukrainians have worked or are currently working in the Republic of Poland. The issue of their pension benefits is governed by a bilateral Social Security Agreement that has been in effect since 2014.
Under the agreement, each country grants a pension based on the length of service accrued within its own territory. However, under certain conditions, service accrued in the Republic of Poland may help a person qualify for a pension in Ukraine.
If the length of service acquired in Ukraine is insufficient to qualify for a pension under Ukrainian law, the Pension Fund of Ukraine may count periods of employment in Poland. Length of service in Poland is taken into account based on Form PL-UA 6, which is issued by the Social Insurance Institution of Poland (ZUS).
Please note!
Work experience acquired in the Republic of Poland is taken into account solely for the purpose of establishing a person’s eligibility for a pension. The amount of the pension is determined solely based on the work experience and wages earned in accordance with Ukrainian law.
