On November 4, 2026, an online event titled “The History We Are Writing Now” will take place, dedicated to Ukrainian history, the struggle for independence, the courage of the defenders, and the role of young people in shaping the country’s future.
Young people aged 14 and older, students, working youth, and educators from the Mykilsk community in Donetsk Oblast and the Khust community in Zakarpattia Oblast are invited to participate.
The main speaker at the event will be Vladislav Dutchak, known by his call sign “Docent”—commander of the Standard-Bearer Service of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov,” a Ukrainian historian, candidate of philosophical sciences, and recipient of the Order “For Courage,” 3rd class. He participated in the defense of Mariupol and was taken prisoner by the Russians after the defenders withdrew from “Azovstal” in May 2022.
One of the moderators and participants in the discussion will be Serhiy Yarovyi—a war veteran, defender of Mariupol, and former soldier of the “Azov” regiment, who endured Russian captivity and, upon his return to Ukraine, dedicated himself to helping veterans.
The program consists of three thematic segments. Participants will discuss the history and personal experiences of Ukrainian soldiers, the lessons of war and responsibility for the country’s future, as well as the history, traditions, and culture of service in the “Azov” unit and the commemoration of fallen defenders.
The event will provide an opportunity to speak with people who directly participated in the fight for Ukraine, ask questions, and discuss the importance of historical memory and national consciousness.
