The first day of the National Forum “From Lessons to Action: Implementing the Women, Peace, Security Agenda in Ukraine” was dedicated to analyzing national and international experience in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

The event is attended by a delegation from Donetsk Oblast, which represents the regional experience in implementing the National Action Plan “Women, Peace, Security” and actively participates in discussing contemporary challenges facing communities in times of war.

During the panel discussion “National and International Lessons in Implementing the National Action Plan”, participants from government structures, international organizations, and civil society exchange experiences, analyze achievements and challenges in implementing the National Action Plan (2021–2025) in the context of a full-scale Russian invasion.

The discussion focuses on how state policy, interagency coordination, and partnerships with civil society and international partners contribute to systemic change — in the field of security, ensuring women’s rights, their participation in decision-making, as well as in the processes of reconstruction and European integration.

Among the speakers was the UN Women Representative in Ukraine, Sabine Fraser Gunesh, who shared international experience in the implementation of Resolution 1325 and emphasized the importance of women’s participation in building peace and resilience:

“It is very important to share Ukraine’s experience at the global level, as we can contribute to the activation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda in other countries. Ukraine’s best practices and all the efforts of women in the security and defense sector, civil society, ministries, and local and regional authorities are extraordinary work that inspires EU Member States and the global community.”
