On May 23, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Heroes, a day when we honor those who gave their lives for the freedom, independence and future of our country. This date has become a symbol of courage, bravery and love for the Motherland, and the holiday is celebrated not only by the military, but also by civilians, youth and representatives of all professions.

On this day, humanitarian hubs/centers established for residents of Donetsk Oblast in the safe regions of Ukraine joined the commemoration of all those who laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of the country, and held a series of patriotic events for children, youth and adults, including

organized patriotic hours "Is it easy to be a hero", "Heroes are always among us", "Heroes among us", "Heroes of the unconquered country", lectures where we talked about the exploits of our heroes, remembered the defenders

held master classes on making amulets, which brought together both children and adults;

watched documentaries and materials about major military events that changed the lives of all Ukrainians;

set up thematic corners featuring documentary, journalistic and popular science literature about prominent personalities, historical events, and heroes who are fighting for our freedom and independence today;

a sporting event "Heroic Endurance" was held, which brought together children from different parts of Donetsk region: from Siverska, Chasovoyarska and Pokrovska communities and became a celebration of unity, courage and respect for the heroes who defend Ukraine;

children joined thematic events dedicated to the Heroes' Day, during which they discussed who the heroes are, solved Cossack puzzles, participated in patriotic exercises, and created a "Tree of Gratitude to Heroes."

On the occasion of the Heroes' Day, a memorial space dedicated to the fallen defenders from the Staromlynivka community was opened in the IDP support center of Volnovakha district in Kryvyi Rih.

Representatives of the hubs/centers, together with residents of Donetsk region, took part in requiems, laid flowers at memorials and memorial sites of the fallen Heroes, and observed a minute of silence in their memory.

The Heroes' Day is not just a holiday, it is a day of remembrance and pride for those who stood up to defend Ukraine. It is an occasion to remember the price of our freedom and to teach the younger generation to appreciate and honor the heroic past of their country.
