Despite the turbulent times and forced relocation, Ukrainian traditions and national holidays remain steadfast. A vivid confirmation of this was this year's celebration of Ukraine's Constitution Day by the students of the KУ "Druzhkivka Children's Home-Internat" in the Kingdom of Spain. For the fourth consecutive year, far from their native home, the children honor one of Ukraine's most important state holidays with dignity and love.
Due to the escalation of military actions in Donetsk, caused by Russia's full-scale invasion, 84 wards of the Druzhkivka Children's Home-Internat were evacuated to the Kingdom of Spain to preserve their lives and health. This step was made possible thanks to the sincere support and hospitality of the Kingdom of Spain, its citizens, and numerous volunteer organizations.
This year's festive event titled "Ukraine is us!" united the children in a common impulse. With pride and a deep sense of patriotism, the students sang the National Anthem of Ukraine, and their voices, filled with hope, resonated far beyond the temporary shelter. The children recited poems that touched the souls of everyone present, emphasizing the enduring importance of preserving cultural values and centuries-old Ukrainian traditions. These touching moments evoked sincere emotions and tears in the eyes of adults.
An important component of the celebration was the informational hour "Rights and Duties of Citizens of Ukraine," dedicated to the basics of human rights. Participation in it allowed the children to demonstrate their knowledge and deepen their understanding of the rights and freedoms enshrined not only in the Constitution of Ukraine but also in other international documents regulating human rights. This is evidence that even in difficult conditions, children continue to acquire knowledge and form a conscious civic position.
With particular pleasure, the wards participated in the thematic master class "Symbols of Ukraine in Ornament." With the help of appliqués, drawings, and elements of embroidery, the children created their own artistic masterpieces, embodying their love for their native land and its symbolism. Each work was infused with national color and demonstrated the inexhaustible creative potential of the students.
We express sincere pride in our wards, their resilience, patriotism, and indomitable spirit. We eagerly await the swift return of the children home, to Ukrainian soil.
We are immensely grateful to the Kingdom of Spain – the country that provided shelter to our children, its kind citizens, and all volunteer organizations for their invaluable help and support. Every such step brings us closer to our common Victory!
Everything will be Ukraine!
