The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has approved an updated list of athletes who are candidates to participate in the XXXIV Olympic Games, which are to be held from July 14 to 30, 2028, in the United States of America. Los Angeles will be the host city for the competition.
Ten representatives of four sports from the Donetsk region made it onto the list of candidates for the 2026 Olympic Games.
The elite group includes weightlifters Andriy Borovskyi and Vladyslav Prylypko, rock climber Anastasiya Kobets, diver Stanislav Oliferchik, and taekwondo athletes Artem and Andriy Garbary.
The leading group includes two weightlifters from Donetsk Oblast, Kristina Borodina and Olga Ivzhenko.
The promising group includes weightlifter Danylo Chinyakov and rock climber Ksenia Goryelova.
Despite all the hardships of war, athletes from Donetsk Oblast continue to bring glory to Ukraine on the international stage. We sincerely root for our fellow countrymen and hope that as many representatives of the region as possible will be included in the Ukrainian national team in Los Angeles!
