A regional summer environmental expedition, organized by the Donetsk Regional Ecology and Nature Center, has begun for students in the Donetsk region. This year, the event is being held in person, allowing children to gain new knowledge, work in teams, and participate in hands-on environmental activities.
The first location for the expedition was the First Kramatorsk Lyceum, where a packed week-long program awaits participants, aimed at fostering an environmental culture and developing research skills and creative abilities.
The expedition kicked off with a creative workshop titled “Mehendi-ART.” Participants learned about the origins and properties of henna, as well as the plant symbols of Ukraine; they created their own mehendi-style designs and took part in environmental games that fostered team building and the development of ecological thinking.
New discoveries await the children ahead: creating their own mini-ecosystems in terrariums, observing plant growth, creative workshops on painting stones, learning about the principles of responsible consumption, and making useful bracelets using natural insect repellents.
The regional summer environmental expedition helps foster a responsible attitude toward the environment in children, as well as the development of research skills and creative potential.
