As part of National Accessibility Week in the educational sector of the Lyman community, an open event titled “Accessibility: A Step Toward Everyone” was held in Kremenchuk for internally displaced persons, veterans, and their family members.

The event was organized by the Lyman City Center for Social Services in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Lyman City Council.

The event took place as part of the cooperation between the Lyman and Kremenchuk city territorial communities within the framework of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”

During the meeting, participants learned about the concept of accessibility, its main principles, and its importance for creating an accessible, comfortable, and inclusive environment for all community residents.

A safe and accessible support space for veterans, their family members, and the families of fallen (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine among IDPs was also presented.

Attendees received information on the principles of accessibility in service delivery, the specifics of effective communication, and the organization of spaces free of physical, informational, and communication barriers.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, participants chatted, shared their own stories and experiences of adapting after forced displacement, and discussed current challenges and ways to overcome them.

Accessibility is about respect, equal opportunities, and caring for everyone.
