On June 12-13 in Dnipro, employees of the social protection system working with internally displaced persons participated in a training on preventing professional burnout.
The event was organized within the framework of the project "Supporting the Capacity of the Social Protection System for the Registration of Internally Displaced Persons," implemented by the Charitable Organization "Charitable Fund 'Stabilization Support Services'" with funding from the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine (UNHCR).
The goal of the training was to determine the risk level of emotional burnout among social protection representatives, deepen and expand theoretical knowledge on the topic of burnout, equip participants with effective self-help and mutual aid techniques to counteract burnout, and help find resources for recovery and improving mental health.
The syndrome of emotional burnout, its causes, symptoms, and consequences, as well as the prevention of this phenomenon through resilience techniques — all of this was thoroughly explained by the trainer (a psychologist of psychoeducational programs) over the course of two days. Participants were offered many exercises: they practiced modern methods of stabilizing emotional states, self-regulation, and self-help, as well as art therapy. The main task of such exercises is to analyze one's experiences, particularly to reflect on feelings regarding work.
Twenty employees of the social protection system participated in the training, who had the opportunity to deepen and expand their knowledge for recovery and improving mental health, and to receive answers to questions regarding exercises and techniques for relieving psycho-emotional tension and unloading.
Participants noted that the training was useful for them, helping them understand how to work in a way that avoids emotional burnout.
We express our gratitude to the Charitable Fund "Stabilization Support Services" for organizing the event, conducting the training, and for the well-chosen topics and exercises.
