Thanks to the national project “Side by Side: United Communities” and the partnership between the Dobropillia and Stryi communities, children from Dobropillia had the opportunity to spend two weeks of safe vacation in Poland.
For the children, this trip was a long-awaited chance to reunite with friends, give them hugs, and experience a sense of peace under the peaceful European sky. The Polish side, together with their Ukrainian partners, prepared an exceptionally warm, sincere, and heartfelt welcome so that the guests from Donetsk Oblast would feel at home from the very first moments—in comfort and absolute safety.
The program for their stay was rich and varied. The children strolled through the ancient streets of the European city, learning about its history, culture, and notable architectural landmarks. They also enjoyed exciting excursions, fun at the water park, a visit to the zoo, and walks in the fresh air—all of which brought them many vivid emotions and the joy of a carefree childhood. A special part of the program consisted of interactive events, creative activities, and new friendships, which fostered a warm atmosphere of camaraderie and left pleasant memories.
The excursions were impressive, but the simplest things turned out to be the main discoveries of the trip. A peaceful sky, sleep without sirens, and the chance to finally take a break from constant stress—that’s what was most precious.
This trip allowed the children to recover emotionally and physically, and gave their parents peace of mind regarding the safety of their little travelers.
The children returned home rejuvenated, with vivid memories of hospitable Poland and immense gratitude to the Stryi community for their care and for giving them the chance to feel safe again.
