Donetsk Athletes Shine at the World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore, Winning 21 Medals

This was reported by Vadym Filashkin, Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and Chief of the Regional Military Administration.

The competition brought together 580 participants from 75 countries. Athletes from Donetsk won 21 medals — 10 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze.

Andrii Trusov — 4 gold medals (100m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 50m and 100m freestyle) with championship records.

Danylo Chufarov — gold (200m medley), silver (100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke), bronze (100m backstroke).

Oleksandr Komarov — gold in 100m freestyle and in the 4×50m freestyle relay (competition record).

Veronika Korzhova — a full set: gold (100m backstroke), silver (200m medley with a European record), bronze (100m breaststroke).

Ihor Nimchenko — silver (100m butterfly) and three bronze (50m and 100m freestyle, 200m medley).

Artem Oliinyk — two gold medals with competition records (200m freestyle and 4×50m relay), and two silver (50m and 100m freestyle).

Strong performances also came from Yaroslav Semenenko, Vasyl Kraynyk, and Stanislav Popov.

The athletes are scholarship holders of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, trainees of the Regional Youth Sports School for Persons with Disabilities, and representatives of Invasport as well as the Sloviansk, Mariupol, and Soledar communities. Their coaches are Svitlana, Andrii, and Danylo Kaznacheiev, along with Yaryna Matlo.

The oldest participant from the region is 38 years old, and the youngest are 17. The tradition of victory continues.
