On June 26, under the chairmanship of Ihor Boiko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, a meeting of the organizing committee was held to prepare for the patriotic run “Honoring Warriors, Running for the Heroes of Ukraine.” Since 2018, this initiative has united Ukrainians around the world to honor the memory of the Heroes who gave their lives during the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The event is held as part of the observance of the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine who died for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of our country.
On August 29, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., Donetsk Region will join the nationwide memorial run.
Registration will be open from July 2 to August 10 via the following link: https://forms.gle/caz4wqj4135iyWS2A.
During the run, each participant will complete a chosen distance of 2 km, 5 km, or 10 km while wearing the name of a Hero who gave their life defending Ukraine between 2014 and 2026 on their T-shirt.
Participants are encouraged to share the stories of their honored Heroes on social media using the hashtags #RunForAHero_2026 and #Run2026.
The annual patriotic run “Honoring Warriors, Running for the Heroes of Ukraine” is more than a sporting event—it is a powerful symbol of gratitude and remembrance for the brave defenders who sacrificed their lives for Ukraine’s freedom.
