The war has scattered the people of Donetsk across different corners of Ukraine and the world. But no matter where we are, Donetsk Oblast will always remain in our hearts.
Donetsk Oblast is not just a place on a map. It is the people. It is our cities and villages, our steppes, slag heaps, forests, and the Holy Mountains. It is the voices of children that will surely ring out again in peaceful courtyards. It is our embroidered traditions, songs, books, and history—which we cherish despite all the enemy’s attempts to destroy it.
Today we remembered those who gave their lives for our land. We honored those who defend Donetsk Oblast every day. We thanked the people who, even in the hardest times, preserve its culture, memory, and identity, and work for the future.
That was the essence of the event “Donetsk Oblast on the Map of Time.” It was about the fact that our region is living history.
It’s about how Donetsk Oblast lives on wherever its people are. It’s about our cultural codes, which war cannot erase; about traditions passed down from generation to generation; and about the people who do everything they can every day to ensure that Donetsk Oblast remains strong, Ukrainian, and unbreakable.
