The Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration continues to summarize the results of the region's athletes' performances at national and international competitions on a monthly basis.
The best athletes of January were determined in two categories: Olympic and non-olympic sports. The voting was conducted among the expert group of the Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration and fans on Facebook.
Oleksandr Hrushyn, an international-class master of sports in greco-roman wrestling, was named athlete of the month among the olympians. In France, at the Grand Prix de France Henri Deglane international tournament, he won a gold medal in the 67 kg weight category.
The pair of sports dancers Artur Ferenchuk and Natalia Byrylo are winners of the “Best athlete” nomination among non-olympic athletes. At the United Kingdom Open Dance Festival international competition in Great Britain, they took first place in the European program in the under-14 age category (Rising Star). The title of “Best coach” among non-olympic sports was awarded to Natalia and Artur's mentors, Natalia Volkova and Andriy Khvostov.
