Donetsk Oblast is developing libraries without walls and expanding access to reading

Published 28 October 2026 year, 12:32

A BiblioVibe professional meeting titled “PROLibrary: A Space for Ideas and Innovation,” dedicated to modern approaches to library work, was held in the Donetsk region.

Nearly 40 librarians from educational institutions in the Donetsk region participated in the event. The meeting was organized by the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education.

Participants discussed the development and accessibility of libraries, the use of digital tools, and the creation of online resources that allow readers to access books and information regardless of their location.

A librarian from Maryinka Secondary School No. 1 (Grades 1–3), representatives of the Educational and Methodological Center for Vocational and Technical Education in the Donetsk region, and a librarian from the Lyman Vocational and Technical School shared their experiences. They discussed the creation of “libraries without walls,” the development of digital collections, and the use of interactive online whiteboards to organize library resources.

Participants also focused on the role of Ukrainian children’s literature in supporting children’s emotional resilience and fostering an interest in reading.

BiblioVibe demonstrated that modern libraries are increasingly expanding beyond their traditional boundaries: they are utilizing digital tools, exploring new ways to engage with readers, and bringing professionals together around shared ideas. The meeting provided an opportunity to see practical solutions implemented by colleagues, exchange experiences, and establish new professional connections between libraries at educational institutions of various levels.
