On the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, a patriotic event took place in the village of Sozonivka in the Kirovohrad region, organized with the participation of representatives from the district administration, the local community, and the Donetsk Regional Center for Tourism and Local History for Schoolchildren.
The highlight of the event was the presentation and measurement of the “Independence Towel”—a 40-meter-long paper canvas created by students of the center together with community members. Their collaborative effort resulted in a cohesive composition symbolizing the unity of Ukraine’s regions and the preservation of folk traditions.
Participants were also presented with a one-meter-tall three-dimensional plaster puzzle in the shape of a Ukrainian vyshyvanka, crafted by Donetsk-region artist Anatolii Denysenko. The work combined contemporary sculptural art with traditional ornamentation, demonstrating the integration of the cultural heritage of eastern Ukraine into the broader Ukrainian cultural landscape.
On the eve of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, such joint initiatives help strengthen interregional ties and preserve historical and cultural memory.
