On November 17, our athletes once again proved their strength on the world stage.
Luka Netyaha (up to 90 kg) defeated opponents from Turkey and Iran, and in the final lost to an athlete from South Korea.
Maryna Pohorelova (up to 70 kg) confidently won her quarterfinal and semifinal bouts against competitors from the Czech Republic and India, but in the fight for gold she was defeated by an athlete from Kazakhstan.
Andrii Pohorelov (up to 100 kg) finished the competition in fifth place.
All three athletes are scholarship holders of the Donetsk Regional Administration, members of “Invasport,” and represent Mariupol. Luka and Maryna are Honored Masters of Sports of Ukraine, while Andrii is a Master of Sports of Ukraine of International Class.
They are coached by Ukraine’s Honored Coaches Oleksandr Zemechev and Volodymyr Netyaha.
