In the first half of 2025, DTEK Donetsk Power Grids’ energy workers repaired 1,300 energy facilities damaged as a result of enemy attacks. Due to ongoing hostilities in Donetsk region, many of them had to be repaired dozens of times.
From January to June 2025, DTEK Donetsk Power Grids’ specialists managed to restore a total of 1,200 power transmission lines, 106 substations, as well as transformer and distribution points after enemy attacks in the region.
“Active fighting in Donetsk region does not subside. The power system sustains damage every day. Some energy facilities have been brought back to life after shelling dozens of times already. Although it is dangerous, exhausting, difficult, and depressing, our specialists are motivated by every home we can light up. Since the beginning of the year, DTEK Donetsk Power Grids’ energy workers have restored power to 1.7 million customers*. We continue to do everything possible — and sometimes impossible — to keep the region’s power system running,” the energy company said.
Energy workers only begin work on damaged networks with permission from the military and the State Emergency Service. However, the situation in the region changes rapidly, and at any moment, in any place, crews can come under fire. The price of light remains very high: since the start of the year, two energy workers have been injured. During this period, DTEK Donetsk Power Grids’ restoration crews have come under fire more than 70 times while bringing the lights back.
Despite everything, our energy workers continue to restore Donetsk region’s power networks.
*Taking into account that some customers have had power restored dozens of times.
