This year’s Youth Day proved that for Donetsk Oblast, there are no distances or obstacles. Despite challenging security conditions and the relocation of many institutions, the region’s youth movement has become a unified space. It was alive everywhere—from the highest government venues in the capital to cozy humanitarian hubs across the country and local events in communities.

A key focus of the celebration was the integration of our youth into the national agenda. Youth leaders from Donetsk Oblast participated in the first meeting of the Chamber of Regional Youth Congresses under the President of Ukraine. This marks a new level of youth representation—an opportunity to directly influence national decisions and the formation of local budgets.

A solemn awards ceremony was held in Dnipro to honor the nominees and winners of the regional “Young Person of the Year 2026” competition—those who, through their work, volunteerism, and knowledge, are driving the region forward.

The Donetsk Regional Youth Center launched a touching online campaign titled “Me and Donetsk Region” (“Letter to the Future”). The collected materials will form the basis for a future physical exhibition.

Large-scale patriotic events were also held—the regional Scout camp “Call of the Steppe” and the military-patriotic training program “Donetsk Sich.”

Youth Day events were also held at the network of humanitarian hubs for internally displaced persons in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kropyvnytskyi, Kryvyi Rih, Odesa, Kam’yanske, and Sheptytskyi.

The heads of the Novodonetsk, Khlibodarivka, Kostiantynivka, Mangush, Hrodivka, Udachne, and Bakhmut communities held face-to-face meetings with young activists. The leaders received well-deserved awards for their volunteer work and achievements in academics, sports, and culture, and also learned about new educational and grant opportunities.

A major revitalization of youth self-government served as a true gift for Youth Day—in particular, the Udachnenska community held the first official meeting of its newly formed Youth Council during this time.

The program of events in the region’s communities was as diverse as possible so that everyone could find something to their liking. At the hubs of the Dobropil, Udachne, Novodonetsk, and Oleksandrivka communities, art therapy workshops, webinars on resilience, and useful cybersecurity training sessions were held.

The Myrnohrad, Kalchyk, Maryinka, and Kryvyi Rih communities ignited the young men and women’s passion for sports. These communities hosted badminton tournaments, sports competitions, intense intellectual quizzes, vibrant photo challenges, and creative showcases.

Distance is no barrier to friendship: the youth councils of Bakhmut, Novodonetsk, and Hrodivka have established close cooperation with their counterparts in Poltava, Berestyn, Myrhorod, and the Dnipropetrovsk region. Through joint video challenges, online bridges, and interactive local history games like “Code of Donetsk Region” and “Heart of Bakhmut,” young people from different corners of Ukraine have come together in unison.

Youth Day 2026 once again confirmed that, despite all the challenges and trials, the youth community of Donetsk Oblast is more than just a geographical region. It is a united, strong, and creative family that is building its own future—and the future of all of Ukraine—right now!
