Four communities in the Mariupol district—Mangush, Sartana, Kalchyk, and Mykolaiv—have signed memoranda of cooperation with two communities in the Cherkasy region—Chyhyryn and Stepanets.
This is another step in the implementation of the national project "Side by Side: United Communities."
Natalia Chukova, head of the department for cooperation with local self-government bodies of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, said that almost all communities in Donetsk region already have partnerships within the framework of the Side by Side project, and noted the important role of decentralization reform in strengthening sustainability at the local level.
"It is not for nothing that they say that local self-government is the driving force behind change in the state. Therefore, we are pleased to deepen cooperation between our communities and will do our utmost to promote further cooperation," she said.
The head of the Mariupol Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Panasenko, noted that the Cherkasy region was one of 14 regions whose workers helped build fortifications in Donetsk region, and thanked the people of Cherkasy for their contribution to the defense of Donetsk region.
Memoranda with our communities were signed by Chyhyryn Mayor Viktor Kharchenko and Stepanivka Village Head Oleksandr Yaremchenko.
