The right to pension provision for miners and members of their families is defined by the Laws of Ukraine "On Mandatory State Pension Insurance" No. 1058-IV and "On Increasing the Prestige of Miner's Labor" No. 345-VI.
Persons covered by Law No. 345-VI regarding increasing the prestige of miner's labor, particularly regarding specific pension provision features, include:
* Workers of state paramilitary emergency rescue services (formations) in the coal industry — under List No. 1 of productions, works, professions, positions, and indicators in underground work, as well as work with especially harmful and especially heavy working conditions, full-time employment in which gives the right to an age pension on preferential terms, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine;
* Workers engaged in the extraction of coal, iron ore, non-ferrous and rare metal ores, manganese, uranium, magnesium (potassium-magnesium salts and magnesium salts) and ozokerite ores, who are employed full-time in underground work (under List No. 1);
* Workers of mine construction enterprises employed full-time in underground work (under List No. 1);
* Family members of the above categories of persons.
On preferential terms under Law No. 1058, an age pension is granted to workers employed full-time in underground work, as well as in work with especially harmful and especially heavy working conditions under List No. 1 and based on the results of workplace certification — upon reaching 50 years of age and having a insurance record of at least 25 years for men (at least 10 years of which must be in specified work) and at least 20 years for women (at least 7 years and 6 months of which must be in specified work).
