Published 22 August 2025 year, 16:28

To mark the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine, the Department of Family, Youth and National-Patriotic Education of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, in cooperation with the State Archive of Donetsk Region, held an online lecture titled "The Symbol of Unconqueredness: The History and Significance of the State Flag of Ukraine" for the youth of the region.

During the event, participants took a virtual journey through time, learning about the deep history of the Ukrainian flag, which dates back to the Kyivan Rus and Galicia-Volhynia Principality. Special attention was paid to the Cossack era and the period of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, when the blue and yellow banner united the eastern and western Ukrainian lands into a single, sovereign state.

The discussion also covered the modern history of the flag, including its revival after Ukraine gained independence. The lecture emphasized the flag's role as a symbol of the Ukrainian people's resilience and unity during the full-scale war, as it flies over trenches and symbolizes struggle, hope, and victory.
