Literary readings in Donetsk region: librarians and military poet spoke about the power of words

Published 26 August 2025 year, 17:20

As part of the project “Donetsk region on the map of time,” literary readings "Voice of a fighting heart: Poetry of Indestructibility“ were held as part of the project ”Donetsk Region on the Map of Time.“ The guest was Bogdan Nazarenko, a native of Donetsk region, junior lieutenant, poet, author of the collection ”Fifteen Months of War,“ and one of the initiators of the project of the same name, ”Voice of the Fighting Heart."

During the meeting, which brought together young people, the public, and all interested parties, Bogdan shared his creative journey and personal experience of serving on the front lines. He convincingly demonstrated how poetry can become not only a means of self-expression, but also a powerful tool for internal support, social rehabilitation, and healing in wartime.

The event turned into a sincere, warm dialogue between the author and the audience. Bohdan Nazarenko's poetry sounded truthful and emotional, imbued with deep lyricism and subtle irony. As the author himself noted, it is humor that often helps to survive the most difficult moments. The participants of the readings were deeply moved, feeling the power of words that can give courage, hope, and faith in the future.

During the event, Bohdan Nazarenko supported the initiative of the Donetsk Regional Library for Children to create a joint cultural project that will bring together military poets and writers. Expanding the format of “Voice of the Fighting Heart” will open up new opportunities for literary meetings, promote cultural unity, and preserve the living memory of those who are currently defending Ukraine.
