To honor the memory of the children whose lives were taken by the war, the Lyman City Center for Social Services, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism and the Department of Social Protection of the Lyman City Council, held a themed event titled “Children of War: Pain That Never Fades.”
The event took place as part of the cooperation between the Lyman and Kremenchuk city communities within the framework of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”
Participants discussed the tragic consequences of war for children, their right to a safe and happy childhood, the importance of preserving the memory of innocent war victims, the value of human life, peace, and mutual support.
A particularly moving moment was a meeting with a woman who lost a child as a result of the war. She shared her personal story of pain and loss. Her heartfelt account left no one unmoved and served as a reminder of the terrible price Ukrainian families are paying due to Russian aggression.
As a sign of remembrance and mourning, participants created paper doves and placed them on a symbolic tree of remembrance. The white doves became a symbol of peace, hope, and a bright memory of the children whose lives were cut short by the war.
We remember every child who did not have the chance to fulfill their dreams, grow up, or embrace their loved ones. Their names will remain in our hearts forever.
Bright memory to all the children who died as a result of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
